![My name is Ella I have, and will always be, a bridesmaid, never a bride. Well not exactly, I’m a wedding planner and have helped every princess in the land plan their weddings; Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel, all of them. Every single time they say “Thank you for helping me I just can’t believe I am going to marry my prince, I’m so Happy”. Every time they say that I just have to tune it out because I have not found my prince yet or even someone close. Now I have to go to another wedding. Belle is marrying the Beast Prince, which should be fun.
Belle was having second thoughts. This is normal. It happened to Jasmine, Snow White and Fiona and I told them the same thing “If it is true love you will know “ and they cheer up. Belle’s dress was a beautiful yellowish color. I was wearing red, I guess I did not get the memo, but it was all right.
At Belle’s wedding reception, the talking pots and clocks were making a lot of noise. I made my way over there to tell them to be quite but a man in a waiter uniform beat me there. I said “What is your name sir?” He answered Arik with an A. I replied “You shall be rewarded for that Arik”. Arik said “No thank you, you do not have to do that but what is your name?” “Ella”, I answered. “What charming name ‘Ella’. I like it, no love it,” Arik commented. “Would you like to have diner some time?’ I panicked and before I knew it I had said yes.
After the reception I was walking to my fairy godmother’s house and thinking this guy could be my Prince Charming. I ran into her house and sat on her couch smiling. “What is it dear, why are you smiling”, she asked? “I’ve got a date, I’ve got a date” I sang. “Well good for you dear, where did you meet him?” “At Belle’s wedding” I replied. “He’s a waiter but behaved like a real prince.” “Are you in love?” she asked. I had no idea if I loved him I had just met Arik, but in Fairy Tale Land it is usually love a first sight and marriage the next day. No one ever dates. Maybe he was from out of town but no one has left or come into Fairy Tale Land - ever.
A few weeks later I was going on my third date with Arik tonight. We had two great dates before that. I had nothing to wear so I called my old friends the mice, Gus Gus and Jacque who own a shop on Fairy Tale Drive. They made me the most beautiful dress ever. It was pink with pink lace along the skirt. As soon as I got dressed I heard a knock on the door. It couldn’t have been Arik because he would have been too early. I opened the door. It was an old lady with an apple. She said “Take a bite and your dreams” [slam]. Snow White had warned me about her.
Arik arrived a little later and he said “Your chariot awaits my dear.” I giggled because he drives a station wagon. As I came outside, I heard the words “bibbitty, bobbitty, boo” and the car turned in to a beautiful, horse-drawn carriage. He gasped and I smiled as I saw the flash of light out of the corner of my eye. My fairy godmother had come through for me again. I asked him where we were going and he replied “time will tell.”
We had been riding for a while when we came to a stop. I looked out the window and read the sign Cinderella’s & Prince Erik’s Castle Party. I immediately said “How on earth did you get invited to this? This is the biggest Ball of the year!” He quickly answered “My boss gave me tickets.” When we arrived Arik said to the doorman “Sir Arik with an A and my lovely date Ella” The short round man replied “I would know you anywhere Pri – OW!” Arik quickly apologized for stepping on the man’s foot and we went inside.
Arik and I danced the night away. At the stroke of midnight Arik said “Ella of Wicton,” and he got on one knee “Will you marry me?” The crowds heard him say this and with happy faces were mouthing the word “yes”. I happily answered “YES”. The crowd cheered with excitement. Cinderella came up to us and said “Ella of Wicton you are now a princess bride you have your true love Prince Arik of Levinton!” At first I thought they can’t mean my Arik is a prince. He works as a waiter and drives a station wagon. “Ella I was going to tell you, but I wanted you to love me for me!” Arik said almost crying. I screamed “you lied to me!” and I turned and ran out of the building. I just can’t me a princess I can’t!
As I was running I lost one of my Choo’s, you know Jiminy. I would have gone back because they are expensive shoes, but the people had started chasing me. I hailed a taxi to go home. Before I got in to the taxi I heard Arik yelling my name and everything slowed down. My fairy godmother appeared in front of me. She asked “Where are you going child?” All I could think of is how he lied to me, but all I said was “I don’t know.” She looked at me with motherly eyes and said “This is what you have waited for your whole life”. At that point I realized she was right. I turned and ran toward the shouting mob and collided with Arik
As I looked up and our eyes met, I realized that he was my true love. It takes a lot of work to get a wedding ready in one day but all my Princess friends pitched in and helped. Everyone agreed that it was the most beautiful wedding Fairy Tale Land had seen in many years. Now I know what all the other girls have been talking about for so long when they say “We’ll live happily ever after.”
